BUSING

Calgary Arts Academy is pleased to partner with Southland Transportation to provide city-wide transportation for our students.  CAA offers busing for Kindergarten to Year 9 students in many communities within Calgary city limits.

Routes and community stops (schedules) are adjusted yearly for where are riders are. Bus stops are community based and we are unable to offer front door service.

Transportation FAQ's

Do you have busing for high school students? CAA does not offer busing for high school students. We are centrally located and most of our students take public transit to the Erickson Centre, Calgary Stampede Youth Campus. We are walking distance from the Erlton/Stampede LRT stations and on the future green line.

Do you have a Kindergarten only bus? CAA does not have a half day, Kindergarten only bus. Families can contact Student Care if before/after school care is required.

My child takes the bus home after school, but they will be picked up instead. What should I do? Contact your child's school campus as soon as possible. Administration must receive notice from the parent/guardian about the change, otherwise your child will take their regular bus home.

My child is registered for one-way busing. Something unexpected came up and they need to take the bus both ways. Students that are registered for one-way only busing may not use two-way busing for any reason.

I did not register for busing in Family Zone when I registered my child. I now need busing, can I still register? Yes! You can select from the current stops offered. Busing can be paid in monthly installments. Arrangements are made through our Finance Department.

We live outside of Calgary's city limits. Can my child take the bus? Yes! The school bus is available within the city limits. Families that reside outside of the city can drive their student to a bus stop of their choice. Transportation fees are the same for families outside of Calgary.

Snow/Cold Days

Snow/Cold Days and Delays in Service

On school days, the school is always open.  We always move forward with the assumption that buses will be operating.  Each morning, school administration reviews the posted Environment Canada weather (weather.gc.ca) and determines if buses will be cancelled (the threshold is -40c with wind chill.)

If buses are cancelled, we notify local radio stations to have the information broadcasted.  As well, an email message will be sent by 7:45 a.m. to all families affected.  Families can also check mybusstop.ca for the status of their bus.

Regardless of whether or not the buses are operating, the school will remain open.
